Crib Sheets

If you have a sewing machine and a couple hours (probably less), make your own crib sheets! It is so easy and turns out perfect.

For Lia and Baby Brother's room we have an aqua and red color palate. Unless you want to pay top dollar for designer sheets, they are not to be found. So instead I got cute matching fabric for both kiddos, some elastic, and thread. Fast forward a sheet! I'm super excited!!!

It is still in Lia's old room and I'll take off the breathable bumper. But it's so worth it...

Crazy Hair

This is Lia Crazy Hair after I take down her piggy tails. We were getting ready to take a bath and Little Miss thought it was hilarious for me to flip her hair all over. Silly girl!

Winner winner chicken dinner

Vegans will not like this post. You've been warned...

So today was butchering day at Casa Christman. It's fairly gross. David and our neighbor caught them, hung them by their feet, and cut their necks. Fairly straight forward. Then you dunk them in hot water and give em a pluck. I helped pluck because its a serious job. Last step is the grossest, and I won't go into detail there but in the end they look like fryer chickens from the grocery...only smaller.

As a final thought, that's my clothesline. I will never be able to look at it the same way again.

Stats...

My sweet Lia had her two year check up. She is still hanging out in the 25th percentile. She is 25lbs and 32 in. tall. so that's a big thumbs up on being proportional. She remains healthy and happy for the most part. Now that we have Lia in First Steps, we are in a good place.

We visited a new doctor. It wasn't a match, but a decent experience. The exam was a lot different than Lia was used to so she was uneasy...a first for us. She usually giggles right through exams. She did love the bubble machine on the way out. Talk about making a good last impression! Since David and I were not in love and judging Lia's reaction, we will look on for that doctor that feels right.

As a last thought...this is how I found Lia yesterday. I love that her go to activity is reading. Annnd riding her horse, just keepin it real.

Two...

Lia is officially two years old! My sweet little girl is growing like a weed. Since we've been busy bees, here's what's been up in a nice neat list...

1. Lia's birthday and party which means new toys with lots of parts to spread around, not to mention weeding out the baby stuff!

2. First Steps. This has involved evaluation, paperwork, scheduling, and arguing with our soon to be ousted pediatrician.

3. Getting the kids' room started. Mostly just shopping at this point. We bought all our paint, a very expensive venture. I've also got some super sassy red accessories. I can't wait to get this going.

4. Little brother getting check ups, which is really my check ups. Also, getting him some clothes.

5. Working with Lia and her eating. No new break throughs since the cereal eating. She is doing a rockstar job at the spoon too. Go Lia!!!

6. Valentine's Day was tucked in there somewhere. The family hung out together. Lia dined on peanut butter, her favorite, while David and I enjoyed. Parm crusted chicken with fettuccine alfredo. It was a special occasion so we splurged big time on the calories there.

7. Of course all the small stuff was still going on and we were fitting that in. Like refinancing our mortgage to a 15 year, mopping floors, and other awesomely fun stuff like that.

8. Having fun...like this picture of Lia.

UGH!

I am truly sorry for the untimely death of Whitney Houston and the grieving her family must be experiencing. BUT I cannot stand "I will always love you," or the majority of her other ballads, but especially that one. Please please please stop the madness !

Worst Craft Ever!

So I saw a cute craft that made little rocks that were supposed to be fun to make and smash. To make them you dipped cotton balls into a flour and water mixture. Once covered you baked them for 40 mins. Then removed from the cookie sheet and had fun playing with them.

Here's the problem...the flour mixture left Lia crying the second it touched her hand. She continued to cry until I finished and put them in the oven. But that is most likely just a Lia reaction...not every kid would react that way. It could be messy fun.

The real issue is that they stuck to the pan! I had to soak the pan in hot water to get them off, thus ruining the crust. Pulling cotton off of a cookie sheet is the worst feeling and sound. Yuck! Not to mention a waste and serious mess. I also got a shard to the crust under my fingernail which hurts like crazy.

Here are some shots of this craft, rated two thumbs down!!!

Painting Valentines!

I saw this paint project on Pinterest and knew it was made for Miss Lia. Then a few days ago my friend, Erin of the Buente Blog, did it with her little man too. I decided to get on it so we could mail them out to the grandparents. Lia did pretty well until she accidentally put her arm in the paint. It's wet and slimy, not exactly Lia's cup of tea. We are starting therapy soon to help with that. But I digress, the cards are cute and look like they were made by an almost two year old!

Happy Birthday Mimi

Today Lia put on her polka dot dress for her Mimi's birthday. She's been asking to wear it and I've been distracting her because it's just a 12 months size but would you believe it fit Miss Skinny Buns! So she thinks she 's a "beautiful princess."

The Big Week

I know most people are wrapping up their big week tonight, but I'm just getting started. Of course we plan on watching the Super Bowl tonight. I am excited for some commercials and all things snack food. I am aware of some guacamole and sour cream hanging around our house that little brother would me to eat. Okay, maybe I just want to eat it, but I'm pregnant so it's all baby brother's fault. On a complete side note, I was having contractions with Lia during the big game a few years ago. :)

The biggest item of my week is a little evaluation of Miss Lia. I'm sure hoping she will be eligible for services otherwise my child will be eating nothing but carbs and peanut butter for the rest of her life. It's weird because I hope there is nothing major wrong, but at this point I want some help. I want her to keep on being her bright spunky self...only better!

Second biggest item is Lia turns the big two on Friday. We are having a little family party on Saturday. This means cleaning the demons out of my house. David hasn't been feeling well so there are plenty of demons. But it ends with seeing a bunch of family and watching my baby girl open presents that she's been asking for more of since Christmas!

So happy Super Bowl Sunday...and good luck this week!

My Silly Monkey

Lia has been in an outstanding mood. Today I managed to pick out paint chips for the new kids room, eat a sit down lunch with David, look at fabric, and go to the park. I now have a contented little girl sitting on my lap while occasionally laughing at Peppa Pig. It might be that we've been able to visit some parks for the past four days due to this amazing weather! Here's my sweet girl during some of our exploits today.

Awesomeness

I spent the morning playing with my sweet daughter and my dad, Lia's Papaw. We went to a new park that has a farm theme. Lia drove the tractor, went down the big slide, and took a long walk. My sciatic is flaring up a bit...but it's been good.
