Sunny Day, Chasing the Clouds Away

Nice weather is finally here...for the next day too. Lia was able to play on the deck but not the wet wet grass! Lia said she wished it was pool weather...

I have no idea what this face was all about! Is it determination...Is it gas? The world may never know!

We were very involved in a game of "I'm gonna get you Mommy!" at this point.

Woohoo! Outside and I get to take Gymbo along. This is an awesome day!

No pictures

My cell broke today which I use to take the majority of the pictures I post. So today there are no pictures. :( You'll have to wait even longer for Lia cuteness. The good news is that my phone is basically operational minus a few things.

In all honesty, I probably wouldn't have gotten a good picture of Lia today because she was in her Dr. Destructo mode. The one when she is on a mission to get out everything and play with nothing. It's the getting out that's the game. On days like that I get to play a continuous game of clean up. It's awesome.

Last bit of news is that since David didn't make it home until around 10 last night, I finished the back of Lia's sweater. I'm feeling uber-successful and will try to work on the front now that the laundry is going and Lia is napping.

It's not easy being green...

Say hello to my little friend...This little froggie was on our back door last night. We have a koi pond out front with a waterfall and often find little visitors like this around. There is a BIG froggie that lives in our filter. At one point we thought he was dead. He may have been, but either he or another frog a lot like him is back. Regardless, this little froggie was very patient with our photos and even let us open and close the door to get pictures from both sides.

In other news, I am getting really close to finish my shawl I am making for a friend. I am super duper happy with the way it turns out and hope it gives her lots of comfort in this really rough time she is going through. It is called a hug to keep. I like it so much that I may make one for myself too. But first, I'm going to be knitting Lia a little sweater. It is super cutie cute cute. It is one with buttons over the shoulder. I'm sure I spend way too much money at the yarn store but I couldn't resist. One of these days I'll get around to making something for myself. I'll post up some pictures of my shawl and baby sweater as they are closer to being finished.

Woah Nellie!

How is it that we go away for not even a full 48 hours and return home to utter chaos? There is laundry to do and a toy explosion in my living room. My kitchen has become a dumping station for weird items. I've been working my tail off today and it seems I've made little progress. But the good thing about being a SAHM, there's always tomorrow. Lord knows that mess isn't going anywhere. Now it may get messier, but still there it will be.

We had a fantastic Easter! I got to see my cutie patootie niece and nephews...all of them. Here's a short list of highlights weekend events...
  • One of my nephews fell out of a boat into water to be saved by oldest nephew's quick thinking. Oh and life jackets were worn so it's wasn't that bad.
  • Lia had no trouble figuring out the egg hunt and continued to 'hunt' any eggs left unattended.
  • There was a water gun fight I was thankfully not involved in...too cold!
  • My mom gave out FunDip with a flavored stick! I stole some as I didn't get any. Don't tell.
  • Gymbo the doll was given to Lia by the Easter Bunny. It's been true love ever since.
  • Lia can play a mean tambourine.
  • My dad made onion rings. YUM!
  • I am happy to be back home. The End.

Easter Cookies

What a difference a year can make! This is Lia when I made Easter cookies today and one year ago. Last year the whisk and spoon were just things I threw in her bouncy seat to make a cute picture. This year they were necessary toys to keep Lia busy while I finished up the last couple of batches. Last year she was quiet, this year she was loud and kept saying "WOW" everytime she picked up the whisk (in case you were wondering what she's saying in that picture). I started while she was napping, but she woke up and wanted to help me out by getting waaaay to close to the oven. However, after I finished this year we got to go outside and play. I was able to hear her little footsteps and giggles. I even got a little Mommy love with a pat on the back as I was carrying her back in for lunch. It's been a good day!

Some Bunny Is Sleepy

Little Lia is all tuckered out! Last night we had some rough weather roll through. The weather radio went off due to a tornado warning so up we all got and trucked it down to the basement. The storm was really quite uneventful but Miss Lia was quite available to provide entertainment. After about 3 minutes of cuddle time on my lap she decided she would just get up and play. It amazes me how she can go from sound asleep to ready to play so quickly. Once we got back to bed, it was quiet for the rest of the night.

David and I were dragging a bit this morning but Lia had no problem getting up. But after a short nap this morning where she spent a lot of time playing and talking to herself and not much time sleeping, we were off to the library. It was "Little Ones" story time. Lia loves it too. She shakes her little egg, dances, and follows along the whole time. After all the excitement of last night and this morning, she fell asleep on the way home!

On that note, since little bunny is down for a nap, it's time for me to get cracking on a few things around here. Hopefully I'll be able to get the house picked up lickety split so I have time for some fun stuff like knitting and baking before David comes home!

Lia + Gymbo = BFF

WARNING: THIS POST CONTAINS CLOWNS!

Lia is a Gymbo groupie. When we first get to Gymboree, Lia's priority one is to walk directly to the Gymbo painted on the wall and have a chat. She LOVES him. Yesterday she actually had a little tugging match with another baby over who got to hold Gymbo exclusively while enjoying a parachute ride. Luckily no mommy intervention was needed and they worked it out. At the end of class, when Gymbo gives everyone kisses, most babies are a little shy and hold onto their mommies. Not Lia, she usually follows Gymbo around the circle hoping for one extra kiss. Then comes laughing back to me.

Well, this week there was a Gymbo sale! So Lia will get her very own Gymbo for Easter. She got ahold of it after class and had to hold it the whole car ride home. She dropped it twice and proceeded to scream until she got him back. We had to trick her to take it away from her until Easter once she got home.

Speaking of Easter, I'm thinking of making some Gymbo colored egg cookies for Lia's basket. She will also get a Gymbo t-shirt (also on sale awhile ago), pinwheel, beach ball, and some books. I'm debating some sort of candy. I don't want to be a total party pooper, but I also don't want a candy crazy baby. Right now the closest she gets to candy is a few Teddy Grahams if she eats a good meal. Hrmmmm....I'll have to think on it.

First Post

Hi all! This is my first post to my new blog. I'll be getting it up and going here shortly. But this is a start and more of a test post than anything for me.
